Bangin' Windows in the Night, It's a Blizzard.

Yesterday, was the caraziest blizzard we have all been waiting for.
I think it really hit like 20 inches. Up to my knees!
Hoping to ice skate at 1, and play with snow for the rest of the day with Evelyn and co., I had to cancel the plan due to the suspended trains services. Boooo.

I woke up at 7 to shovel the snow... perhaps it's because I haven't been working out lately, I started to feel tired after 10 shovels. LOL. But my dad, my brother and I, finally finished shoveling at around 10. I didn't do much, but I'm aching all over. I guess, that was my workout for the day. However, the workout went to waste with a big bowl of ramen (with ham and egg)!

Oh hello, Winter Wonderland
on Norman Street!

My brother posing.

Me working hard in my Baruch sweats!

Papa working hard.
Looking mad fly.

Hopefully, tomorrow, many of these snow problems will be solved and that I can finally go out and playyy!

MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALLLLL

This Christmas was spent at Applebee's for lunch. :9
I had the cowboy burger. It was delish, but I couldn't finish it!
Then simple dinner at cousin's house.
It was peaceful and nice.
I managed to get a few pics with us.
Of course with the new camera! :D

The elders.
LOL they knelt for the tree to be seen.

The young ones.
Blocking the tree.

So we sat down.

Pre-Christmas

This Pre-Christmas, I didn't meet up with too many people... which is kind of a good thing. Cus I decided to hand-make my cards and they took forevahhhh! First five for the Ex-Techies. :)

Used strings, beads, fabric, cotton
Most importantly: glue.

In front of Penelope.
With Dahae, Evelyn, Jeffrey, Christina & Alex.

Next day was baking day at Janet's. We made gingerbread and sugar cookies. Took forever to make. Sabrina and Amy didn't get to make it with us... but that's because they were waiting for my gift... the best gift I ever received for Christmas! I can't thank them enough! And it's time for me to replace the antique with the new camera! :D

Antique. (Taken with new camera)
Do you see the thickness of this thing?

New camera! (Taken with antique)
Thanks again and again guysss! <3

First time at Chili's.
With Ray, Sabs, Amy, Evelyn & Janet.

We hit up Susan's after dinner at Chili's and Amy and Sabs just couldn't stop staring at Susan's brother's junk. LOL

I hope Christmas Day would be as fun with my family as it was with my friends! :)

Unproductive Day

Today I punched Evelyn.
LOL
Not really. I was fake punching.
But she decided to throw her face at my iron fist.
And when things collide with force.
They go KABOOM!
Best moment of the day.

I also can't call Janet Chunky anymore.
Why not? Because I'm also quite chunky myself.
In fact, I'm much chunkier.
But she's sucha party pooper.
Partypooping all day long.

R.I.P.

Today, I received a phone call from an old man.
"Is this the landlord?", he asked.
"Yes, and who am I speaking to?", I answered.
"John passed away last week and I've already taken away all his things from his apartment."
"Wait what?"

That news came to me so quickly, I didn't know how to feel.
I was speaking to John's brother.
John has been our tenant for the longest time.
Even before my dad moved here and bought the apartment.
We didn't even know what he did.
We didn't talk to him much.
And neither did I find out the reason of his death.
I remember him complaining all the time.
About the tenants above him,
moving around too much and making noise
at around midnight or later.

Now that he's gone.
There won't be any of his complaining.
Maybe it has become a habit that we got used to.
But now that he's gone,
it feels so different.
It left me a little gloomy.

Oh death.
Who knew you would come take him so quickly.
When it felt like yesterday, he was climbing up the stairs
knocking on our door
to complain about my next-door neighbor.

Awkward Train Situation 1

You know that feeling when you see someone you kinda know on the train... but you're listening to your ipod or sleeping or just whatever. So you think of a way to avoid them hoping there will be no eye contact. 'Cause when the eye contact is made, there is no turning back. You must say hello. Perhaps, if you're lucky, a conversation won't start. But you'll probably be near the person and it'll be just an awkward silence. Each of you doing your own things. So it's better to get in another car, pretend to sleep (if you're sitting), or just turn the other way around. Haha. Just saying.

Hmm.

Tennis with Chunky and Evelyn.
Then hotpot at Amy's.

At some points of the day,
I came to realize that
sometimes, my friends can be real jerks.

Welcome December!

A day late... but Happy December! :D
Here's a little poem to celebrate!

Oh December,
How I adore you.
Your cold wintery weather...
And your holidays too!
The piles of snow you bring
And friends and family gatherings!

That's it. I don't wanna be too lame.
But then again, there was no rhythm.
Speaking of poems. I read one for English class.
And it has become my fave.
It's called:
Ode to the Tomato by Pablo Nerudo
Translated by Nahthaniel Tarn

The street
drowns in tomatoes:
noon,
summer,
light
breaks
in two
tomato
halves,
and the streets
run
with juice.
In December
the tomato
cuts loose,
invades
kitchens,
takes over lunches,
settles
at rest
on sideboards,
with the glasses,
butter dishes,
blue salt-cellars.
It has
its own radiance,
a goodly majesty.
Too bad we must
assassinate:
a knife
plunges
into its living pulp,
red
viscera,
a fresh,
deep,
inexhaustible
sun
floods the salads
of Chile,
beds cheerfully
with the blonde onion,
and to celebrate
oil
the filial essence
of the olive tree
lets itself fall
over its gaping hemispheres,
the pimento
adds
its fragrance,
salt its magnetism -
we have the day's
wedding:
parsley
flaunts
its little flags,
potatoes
thump to a boil,
the roasts
beat
down the door
with their aromas:
it's time!
let's go!
and upon
the table,
belted by summer,
tomatoes,
stars of the earth,
stars multiplied
and fertile
show off
their convolutions,
canals
and plenitudes
and the abundance
boneless,
without husk,
or scale or thorn,
grant us
the festival
of ardent colour
and all-embracing freshness.

Kudos to Nerudo's humor and cleverness... and unique style!
